New beginnings

Dear friends, family and athletes

As we reflect on the past year, I want to share a personal journey that has shaped not only my life but also the lives of those around me, especially my son and the athletes I coach. This year has been a testament to resilience, perseverance, and the unwavering belief that every ending is merely a stepping stone to a new beginning.

Running has always been my sanctuary—a place where I find clarity and strength. As I lace up my shoes and hit the road or trails, I am reminded that life, much like running, comes with its own set of uphill battles and unexpected hurdles. This year, I faced one of the most significant challenges of my life: navigating the complexities of divorce. It hasn’t been easy, and there have been moments when I wondered if I could keep going. However, I’ve learned that when you can no longer think of a reason to continue, it’s time to think of a reason to start over.

As we Turning Endings into New Beginnings. In the spirit of renewal, I’ve embraced the words “From now on…”or “Τι να κάνω” (Greek for “What can I do”). This mantra has been my guiding light, reminding me that my destiny is not tied to anyone who has left my life. People come and go for various reasons, and their departure often creates space for new opportunities and deeper connections. Letting go is not about rejection; it’s about acceptance and understanding that my story continues beyond each chapter that closes.

I’ve learned to let go of the things I can’t control and to accept reality as it unfolds. Each setback has taught me valuable lessons, allowing me to regroup and find the strength to push forward. I’ve faced fears and taken necessary chances, reminding myself that the risk of regret is far greater than the fear of failure.

As a coach, I strive to be a role model for my son and the athletes I mentor. I want them to see that strength isn’t about enduring pain; it’s about choosing your path and learning from every experience. Even when life feels overwhelming, I remind them—and myself—that every step, no matter how small, is a step toward progress.

Every struggle has been a lesson. I’ve come to appreciate how necessary each moment has been, shaping me into who I am today. I’m proud of the progress I’ve made, and I want to encourage you all to celebrate your own journeys, no matter how challenging they may seem.

In closing, I hope you will find inspiration in your own journeys. Let’s dream boldly, love fiercely, and strive to appreciate the beauty in both our struggles and triumphs. Remember, it’s not about where we started or even where we are now; it’s about where we’re headed that fills us with hope.

Thank you for being a part of my journey this year. Together, let’s continue to support one another as we navigate the ups and downs of life.

With gratitude and strength,

Jo (Ioanna) Eleftheriou Keppler
